Husband is on the phone to sex workers and 'tries to show me images' Kildare court told

Woman feels unsafe because of husband's drinking
A woman told Naas District Court she feels unsafe at home because her husband of many years is drinking and is verbally abusive to her.
She said he is constantly calling her a c… and “when he’s not working he is drinking.”
She also said their adult children had offered to go with him to get help for his drinking.
“He’s on the phone to sex workers and tried to show me the images,” she told the court.
The woman also said that physical abuse is not an issue because there are adult children present and he had calmed down after a court order was previously granted.
The man told the court “I might drink a little excessively” and the court was told his children sat him down and asked him to get help. He also said he can be “reactive.”
He told the court he works full time and sometimes on Saturday and said neither of them “can afford to move out.”
He told the court he had never missed a day at work because of drink.
Judge John Brennan said the situation is sad and noted that the housing market is forcing them to live together.
He said he was satisfied there was a continuous level of abuse towards the woman and the underlying cause is alcohol.
The judge granted a safety order for a two year period.
