The defendant told Naas District Court she forgot to post the money

A woman told Naas District Court she forgot to post the money she received for a musical instrument.

The woman appeared at Naas District Court via videolink from a detention centre because she was then serving a term.

Michaela Connolly, 27, whose address was given as Clogheen, Monasterevin, was prosecuted for taking €30 by deception.

Sgt Dave Hanrahan told the court that a musical instrument was advertised for sale. He said a payment was to be made via PayPal and it went into the defendant’s account.

The defendant told the court that she forgot to post the money onwards.

The court heard that the defendant had a number of previous convictions and most of these were for breaches of the Public Order Act.

Judge Derek Cooney said he would impose a two months custody term from the day of the hearing which means that it would not affect her release date by prolonging it.
