Kildare Wildlife Rescue is seeking donations of food for its waterfowl patients.

Specifically, Kildare Wildlife Rescue is seeking fresh green food for the aquatic birds in its care.

Explaining the need for the donations on its Facebook page, the organisation said: "Why fresh greens? Fresh greens contain niacin which is important to the development of healthy bone structure, and feathers in ducks and swans.

"They also promote appropriate foraging for our patients ahead of their return to the wild."

Kildare Wildlife Rescue added that donations of lettuce, spinach and rocket can be dropped into its centre near Kildare town from 9am to 8pm, seven days a week.
