A woman who was “thrown out” of a car with no shoes on was later arrested for public order offences.

Laura Dunne (39) of 9 Lansdowne Court, Portarlington, admitted being intoxicated in public and behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at Fitzpatrick’s Garage, Dublin Road, Kildare on  November 6 last and to the same offence at Lansdowne Court, Portarlington on December 27 last.

Solicitor Philip Meagher said his client was entering a guilty plea.

Garda Sergeant JJ Kirby said gardai responded to a disturbance at Lansdowne Court shortly before 2am on December 27.

He said the woman began “calling gardaí bastards” and saying “you can’t arrest me” while “kicking and screaming”.

He said the offence occurred at 1.55am just two days after Christmas.  “When she sobered up she was OK,” said Sgt Kirby.

Mr Meagher outlined details of the second incident at the garage in Kildare. He said “she was found in a dishevelled state, no shoes, no phone” and “she had been thrown out of a vehicle” on the date in question.

“Somebody picked her up and brought her back to the garage,” he said, describing the individual as a Good Samaritan.

“She said she is in a somewhat better place,” he said.

Mr Meagher said his client knows it will be a long road to recovery but she said she has not been drinking at all.

Judge Andrew Cody said the woman clearly has an issue with alcohol.

He sentenced her to two months suspended for two years in relation to each of the incidents.

He granted legal aid and warned the woman to address her issues.
