Naas shoppers will be pleased to read that works have been completed on a €2.8m extension to an Aldi supermarket store in Naas, Co Kildare.
According to Construction Information Services (CIS), work is completed on site and the store – located on Monread Road, Naas - was due to re-open this week.
Following the granting of planning permission by Kildare County Council on December 15 2023, works commenced on-site on June 11 2025.
On December 15 2023, Kildare County Council granted planning permission to Aldi Stores (Ireland) Limited for a single storey extension to the western elevation of the existing single store.
This included off-licence use (reg. Ref: 10500065) by 330 sqm (total of 1,788 sqm gross floor area, 1,316 sqm net retail floor area); extension of canopy; associated signage (reuse and relocation of existing); and replacement of existing drs unit (42sqm) with a smaller proposed unit (17 sqm).

The proposals also included reconfigured car park area and minor alterations to a vehicular entrance location, car parking (81 spaces, 88 existing), cycle parking (18 spaces, 6 existing), and all associated works to facilitate the development.
The architect for the project is Arthur Gibney and Partners, and the main contractor is Mannings.
