Green light for Kildare guesthouse to be extended

Work has begun on the €669,000 extension of a guesthouse in Johnstown, Kildare.

Westown Lodge is located at Toberton.

In the designs is the refurbishment and first floor extension of an existing two storey derelict agricultural outbuilding.

The  building will provide two holiday letting units, made up of one two-bedroom two storey unit and one three-bedroom two storey unit.

The development will also include a new waste water treatment system and alterations to the existing entrance.

MDP & Partners, led by Eddie Phelan, are responsible for designing the project and preparing the architectural plans and drawings.

BF Construction Ltd (Brian Fitzharris): BF Construction Ltd, managed by Brian Fitzharris, oversees the building works on site and ensures the project is constructed according to the approved plans and specifications.

 CORA Consulting Engineers, represented by John Casey, assess flood risks for the site and provide engineering advice to ensure the development is safe from flooding.

The planning application states: 

For the reconfiguration, refurbishment and first floor extension of an existing two storey derelict agricultural outbuilding.

"The proposed building will provide 2No. holiday letting units, made up of one two bedroom two storey unit and one three bedroom two storey unit.

"The development will also include a new waste water treatment system, alterations to the existing entrance and all associated site works.

"The proposal will change the use from previously granted commercial use as per planning Ref: 211041 to holiday letting units for the building."
