The Naas Pythons event saw the club recognise their five athletes who proudly represented Team Leinster at the Special Olympics Ireland Summer Games

Naas Pythons Special Olympics Sports Club held a special presentation night last Thursday evening, June 25 at Naas Community College

The event saw the club recognise their five athletes who proudly represented Team Leinster at the Special Olympics Ireland Summer Games, which took place in Dublin over the past weekend.

In addition to the success of the athletes, Naas Pythons was also proud to have club members serving in senior management roles with Team Leinster throughout the Games, highlighting the club's ongoing commitment to Special Olympics sport both on and off the field of play.

It was indeed a wonderful local sporting story celebrating achievement, inclusion and community spirit.

The athletes and indeed the management were all given a great reception, much deserved and appreciated by all concerned.

Naas Pythons Special Olympics Sports Club is celebrating 23 years of inclusion, achievement and community spirit. Founded in 2003 following the Special Olympics World Games in Ireland, the club has grown to 85 athletes and 45 volunteers, with some founding members still actively involved.

Training takes place weekly in Naas Community College and CBS Naas, where athletes participate in athletics, basketball, bowling, floorball and Young Athletes programmes.

Recently honoured with Clann Credo's inaugural best Leinster Volunteer-Led Club Award, the club enjoyed outstanding success at the Special Olympics Ireland Summer Games, with athletes winning multiple medals.
