Anger at car parked across 2 disabled spaces in Newbridge

This was the scene in Newbridge yesterday when a car was seen parked across two disabled spaces on Station Road.

People who saw the photo online demanded that the vehicle should have been immediately clamped.

However others suggested that the driver of the car may have been in a genuine emergency to get a passenger to nearby medical treatment.

It's an offence to park a vehicle in a disabled parking space unless you have a current, valid Disabled Parking Card.

If you illegally park in a disabled parking space, you will incur a fixed charge parking fine.

Both traffic wardens and Gardai have the power to request and inspect a parking card to ensure it is not being misused.
