Naas District Court heard the man threw a milk shake into taxi driver’s face

A man who threw a milk shake into the face of a taxi driver appeared at Naas District Court.

Lee Pitt, 26, whose address was given as no fixed abode, Newbridge, was persecuted for breaching the Public Order Act on May 5, 2025 at John Devoy Road, Naas; at Main Street, Newbridge, on December 26, 2024 and attempting to commit a robbery at Newbridge train station on January 1, 2025.

Sgt Mary Meade said the defendant was arrested for his own safety because “he was so intoxicated.”

Referring to the December 26 incident, Sgt Meade said the defendant was very drunk and disorientated and called a garda “a foreign b…..d.”

Sgt Meade said that the defendant had also demanded money from a taxi driver at Newbridge train station on Station Road and threw a milk shake at him.

The defendant was in custody and appeared in court via video link.

The court heard that he had 25 previous convictions, including four for assault.

Solicitor Tim Kennelly said the defendant is quite well known to the court and has been in custody since getting a sentence in the circuit court.

Mr Kennelly added the defendant wants to apologise to the taxi driver.

“He was in the throes of heroin addiction and that led to this behaviour," added Mr Kennelly.

He also said the defendant is “doing extremely well” in prison, is going to the gym and has put on weight.

He asked the court not to prolong his sentence.

Judge Desmond Zaidan commented that the defendant looks a lot better “than when I see him riding a bicycle around the town.”

He imposed a five month term, starting immediately.
