Kildare County Council have said that they are currently looking into ways of limiting the traffic problems in Kildare Town that are proving a constant nuisance to motorists.

The council were responding to a question posed by Cllr Mark Lynch as to what they were planning to do to alleviate the issues and what funding was being made available.

The council said that they are currently working on a project for the traffic management plan, but they are not certain of the timeframe, though they are hopeful that a new project will begin by September of this year.

"The council is currently trying to develop a project that will address the traffic movements to the west of the town from the junction of Pigeon Lane and the R455 to the junction of Station Road and Miletta Road," read the council's response.

"The timelines are uncertain at present as the funding requirements and funding stream not yet fully developed. It is hoped to have a project under way in Quarter 3 2018. The Roads Department proposes to meet with the members in Quarter 2, 2018 with a view to discussing the issues of concern in the existing Traffic Management Plan."
